It’s no secret that our local real estate market is going through a shift. Interest rates on mortgages jumped from 3% to 7% very quickly. This makes it more difficult for people to buy a home.
Homeowners who don’t need to sell are generally staying put since they are locked into a low mortgage interest rate, which is keeping inventory low. Builders are also pulling back.
The bottom line is we’re heading back to a normal real estate market after years of emergency financial stimulus provided by our government and the Bank of Canada.
The problem is our national news has sensationalized this situation. When it comes to residential real estate, it’s very localized down to the specific neighbourhood and street. What you hear in the news isn’t necessarily what’s happening in Niagara, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton real estate markets.
That’s where I come in. I want to step up and better keep you informed about what’s truly going on in our local real estate market. I’m talking to buyers, sellers, mortgage brokers, builders, etc., daily, and I’d love to share with you the knowledge I pick up along the way.
We plan on sending you two helpful videos a month to answer your most commonly asked real estate buying, selling and investing questions on the market right here in the Niagara, Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton areas. These videos will not waste your time.
